‘Splendours of the Subcontinent’ Learning Programme

8 June – 14 October 2018

Bagri Foundation was pleased to support the Royal Collection Trust’s inclusive learning programme for the Splendours of the Subcontinent exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace from 8 June – 14 October 2018.

The Trust worked with community groups and families who were not usually able to visit the exhibition due to socioeconomic isolation or disability and encouraged collaboration through a variety of workshop sessions and performances.

Events included a Community Special Viewing of the exhibition on 24 July, which included an opportunity to the meet the Curators, Emily Hannam and Kajal Meghani, accompanied by live music and dance by Akademi.

Over the weekend of 4 and 5 August, a Family Festival Weekend took place in The Queen’s Gallery which enabled a large number of visitors to take part in arts and crafts activities, storytelling sessions, workshops and interactive talks whilst surrounded by an awe-inspiring backdrop of South Asian manuscripts, paintings and decorative works of art.

These events were also supported by specially selected artists, whose work further promoted awareness and engagement with the objects in the Royal Collection. The staff also undertook special training for cultural awareness to enable a great experience for audiences and staff alike.
