Orchestral Qawwali Project

26 November 2023

The Bagri Foundation is thrilled to support the Orchestral Qawwali Project,  poised to grace the stage of the prestigious Birmingham Symphony Hall on the 26th of November 2023. This exceptional performance, in collaboration with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will feature orchestral interpretations of ancient Sufi poetry, Indian Classical dance, and the harmonious collaboration of 90 of the country’s foremost orchestral musicians.

At the core of the Orchestral Qawwali Project lies the visionary work of critically acclaimed composer and songwriter, Rushil Ranjan. Widely celebrated as a game-changer in Sufi music, this project seamlessly weaves together the soaring vocals of Abi Sampa with rich orchestral arrangements and powerful chants. The result is a mesmerising experience that not only preserves the essence of qawwali but propels it forward, fulfilling its original intention of leading the listener to spiritual rapture.

The Bagri Foundation recognises the significance of such endeavors in showcasing the diversity and richness of classical arts within the UK.
