The Music Room Ten Part Series Goes Live!

In the lead up to the World Premiere of Ravi Shankar’s only opera Sukanya in May 2017, we’re thrilled to present an online ten-part mini-series, exploring the dialogue between Classical Indian and Western music! ‘The Music Room’ takes the viewer on a journey through these traditions, examining how they connect on a deeper level. David Murphy, the opera’s conductor and long-time collaborator with Ravi Shankar presents the series.

You can view the full ten-part series on our youtube playlist here.

This series runs alongside Ravi Shankar’s Sukanya, which the Bagri Foundation is delighted to support. Sukanya the Indian music legend envisioned before his passing in December 2012 as a groundbreaking piece exploring the common ground between the music, dance and theatrical traditions of India and the West. This innovative co-production between the Royal Opera House, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Curve will take open at Curve Theatre, Leicester on Friday 12 May 2017.
