The awards for the Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival 2017 were announced on the closing night, 29 June after a week of immensely powerful and absorbing film.
The winner of the Satyajit Ray Short Film Competition 2017 was Papa, directed by Siddharth Chauhan, a tense and claustrophobic film that explores the traumas of loss.

The Audience Choice Award went to A Billion Colour Story, an inspiring and hopeful film that explores aspects of religious intolerance through the open-mindedness and freedom in the ideas of a child.
A Billion Colour Story director Padmakumar N and producer Satish Kaushik said: “It’s incredibly special for us that A Billion Colour Story resonates with audiences across countries and continents. It continues to vindicate our faith that people and their hearts are the same across cultures and horizons. We dedicate this award to the victims of the recent lynchings, in India.”
The Sunmark Ltd, UK ICON Awards for South Asian directors who have made a global contribution to cinema went to Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Ashutosh Gowariker and Pratibha Parmar.
The Sunmark Ltd, UK Outstanding Achievement Award went to actress Anjali Patil.
