Project Description

The Bagri Foundation is excited to be supporting the series of events From the Lips to the Moon, a collaboration between live-electronic music wizard Pouya Ehsaei and voice-shifting writer Tara Fatehi. Pouya and Tara curate From the Lips to the Moon as regular music and poetry nights at Reference Point, London, where they invite poets, musicians and visual artists to join them on stage in creating one-off live performances.

In 2023, From the Lips to the Moon comes back to Reference Point with a great lineup of poets and musicians. Jabbaristan’s magical voice and tanbur will induce smiley tears. Whether dealing with the climate emergency or everyday life and family, Gboyega Odubanjo’s poetry offers that cunning sense of humour we so need these days. Silai’s strong presence and words will slap us in the face. And in between hosting, singing and shapeshifting, Tara Fatehi will tickle your senses and brains. All this is merged into each other with the at times eerie at times dancy music and soundscape composed live by Pouya Ehsaei and hypnotic visuals generated live by Sadler Johnson (2 Digit Visuals).

About the curators

Tara Fatehi is an artist, performer and writer from Tehran based in London. Using performance, text, video, movement, voice and mediums-in-between, Tara’s work forefronts mistranslation, ambiguity, disjunction, playfulness and unfinishedness. Alongside numerous international performances, exhibitions and published works, her book Mishandled Archive is published by LADA (2020).

Pouya Ehsaei is a London-based Iranian musician, sound designer, producer and curator. His practice is based on experimenting with different compositional techniques and exploring the possible applications of sound as a matter. Pouya has closely collaborated with many jazz, classical and folk musicians from around the globe. He is the band-leader of Ariwo and co-founder of club night Parasang.
