Sumi-e – Japanese Ink Painting II with Takumasa Ono

In the second part of the Japanese Ink Painting course offered by  The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts and the Bagri Foundation, you’ll have the opportunity under the guidance of Takumasa Ono to improve your Sumi-e techniques learnt in Part 1 .

Traditionally these paintings feature subjects from the natural world such as flowers and birds. The Japanese experience of painting is a form of meditation that brings peace and harmony to the artist, and the finished pieces are intended to inspire the same sense of tranquillity and joy in the viewer.

You will deepen your spiritual understanding through exercises to develop your learning gained from Part 1 of this course. You will complete several paintings and gain confidence to continue at home.

This course is part of the Bagri Foundation Open Programme at The Prince’s School of Traditional of Arts which aims to expand Asian arts courses at The School.
