Daido Moriyama: A Retrospective at The Photographers’ Gallery

6 October 2023 – 11 February 2024

Project description

The Bagri Foundation is pleased to support a new landmark exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery, the first UK retrospective of Daido Moriyama, one of Japan’s most groundbreaking photographers.

Over six decades, Moriyama’s unique vision reshaped our perception of the world with grainy, intense images. From his early Japanese magazine contributions to his self-reflective period in the 1980s and 1990s, witness his evolution as he challenges photography’s essence. This exhibition showcases his iconic ‘are, bure, boke’ aesthetic, alongside rare photobooks, magazines, and over 200 artworks.

Immerse yourself in Moriyama’s world at The Photographers’ Gallery from 6 October. Tickets available from 14 August.

A culmination of three years of research, this retrospective is an unparalleled exploration of his legacy, organized by Instituto Moreira Salles and the Daido Moriyama Photo Foundation. Daido Moriyama: A Retrospective was curated by Thyago Nogueira, Instituto Moreira Salles.
