Open Up with Harminder Judge

Our Head of Arts, Chelsea Pettitt, talks to artist Harminder Judge through the Open Up series. Premiering at 11am BST on Wednesday 16 September, we ask some probing questions to Harminder such as, ‘If you could be remembered for one thing what would it be?’ and ‘What are you most afraid of?’. Through these questions, we explore what drives him, inspires him, terrifies him; and ultimately what is most important to him. Living through this incredible period of history, we want to take stock and ask artists to open up to us through this interview series. Biography

Harminder Judge (b. 1982, Rotherham, UK) lives and works in London and Berlin. His practice – which spans object-making, performance and installation – engages with many subjects but frequently explores portals, be they spiritual, political or personal. He graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in London in 2020. In 2011 he won the Arts Foundation Fellowship Award in Performance Art and was recently awarded a five year residency at the ACME Fire Station. He has shown work internationally, venues have included Jhaveri Contemporary, Mumbai; Halle 14 Zentrum für Zeitgenössische Kunst, Leipzig, and the Royal Academy of Arts, London.  He was recently included in Tomorrow: London at White Cube and is co-curated the group exhibition ‘Our ashes make great fertilizer’ at Public Gallery.
