Founded in 1990, Sinfonia Verdi is a professional chamber orchestra, which comprises of many of the UK’s finest musicians. Founder and Artistic Director David Murphy conducts throughout the world and is a pupil of Leon Barzin. He is protégé of Sir Charles Mackerras and Pandit Ravi Shankar, whose opera Sukanya he has completed with Shankar’s daughter Anoushka Shankar.
Sinfonia Verdi is based on the border of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and has performed throughout the UK and internationally. The orchestra has led on educational projects with various groups from local schools to world-renowned choirs to the corporate sector. We were delighted to support Sinfonia Verdi’s Roots of Fire project, which aims to celebrate the musical dialogue between East and West. With Sinfonia Verdi we also presented, Strauss Reflected, an exciting performance that reveals the emotionally charged lives and works of the Strauss family through Western and Indian classical music and storytelling on 4 November 2017 at Cadogan Hall.
